HOW TO USE DRIP COFFEE ?

Freshly roasted coffee is inside the SaigonDan Single-serve sachet; not Instant (or Soluble) coffee.

This important difference is the reason why you can now enjoy anywhere, anytime, enjoy your favorite coffee. Real flavor of roasted coffee, hand-crafted by your Saigondan Master Roaster, as follows:

Step 1: Tear open the bag of coffee grounds.

Step 2: Hang the wings of the bag on each side of your cup.

Step 3: Wet the coffee grounds with a small amount of water (about 1 ounce) and wait ~30 seconds. We recommend using hot water that is 195-205 degrees Fahrenheit - just below a boil.

Step 4: Pour enough water over the coffee grounds to submerge the coffee grounds.

Step 5: Take a short break and allow your coffee to filter through. Take a deep breath and enjoy the aroma of your fresh brew.

Step 6: Repeat “Step 4” and “Step 5” 2-5 more times until you reach your desired quantity and strength.

Step 7: Voila! You’re ready to enjoy this excellent cup of Saigondan - Finest Vietnamse Coffee, or add as much creamer as you please.

FAQ: Is your coffee really free of artificial flavors, syrups, or sweeteners? How is it sustainably sourced?

It sure is! We also don’t use any mysterious flavorings, essences, or artificial ingredients. Our Classic black coffee contains a premium blend of robusta and arabica coffee, only.

We take pride in our ever growing sustainability efforts. We have an active relationship with not only our coffee farmers in Vietnam, but with every step of our supply chain. Our farmers are paid above-market rates for their coffee to ensure a higher quality of life and our beans are sourced only from sustainable farms in the scenic town of Dalat. We are actively looking to increase our use of non-GMO and organic ingredients as well.

FAQ: How much caffeine is in your coffee?
An 8 oz cup of Saigondan Coffee has approximately 238-272 mg of caffeine (amount varies by flavor). That’s about 2-3x as much as a typical cup that you’d find at your local coffee shop or chain.

SENSORY

Originally, people allowed coffee to dry in the sun with their fruit intact until it was ready for milling. The other traditional process was the "wet process" to obtain mainly "Washed Arabica". Basically, it's fermenting and washing the coffee after a machine has removed the fruit and the pulp, and then drying the parchment. Over the past years a new process has emerged which is specifically beneficial for Robusta Coffee, the "Honey Process". It is a Hybrid between the drying and washing process. The honey coffee process is the hardest and most demanding coffee processing method. The processor or farmer has to start by pulping the coffee and then spreading it out for drying without any washing to leave part of the pulp. The processor spreads the coffee beans thinly on special drying beds and turns them after everyone hour for 10-15 days to gain the needed stability. Important is that the parchment is at any time protected from the rain and the greenhouse must be well ventilated. The entire drying process must be observed carefully. Any problem, in particular a hidden fermentation, can quickly lead to a complete loss of the entire batch and the corresponding financial consequences. Once the coffee parchment is completely dry, from the outside pulp till the nucleus of the coffee bean, the processors or farmers have to mill / hull the coffee to remove the last layers of the skin (dry pulp and parchment), which protect the inside coffee beans. The tasting report of our SaigonDan Adventure: A mild and sweet taste, somewhat reminiscent of caramel.
